A live-action Legend of Zelda movie is in the works, and it looks like a new actor has joined the cast.

Wes Ball, the director behind the Maze Runner films, is directing the movie. He’s promised it will be made with fans in mind, saying, “It’s going to be made by a fan for fans.” The film is currently set to release in theaters on March 26, 2027. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason have been cast as Link and Zelda, respectively, and were announced in July 2025.
Content creator Tony Olsen recently shared a video showing work underway in New Zealand. The video features actress Zelda Bragason, and viewers quickly recognized her costume: long, braided gray hair, a tunic, a broad belt, and a traditional Japanese polearm called a naginata.
Impa’s appearance seems to align with how she’s portrayed in games like Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity, where she’s a dedicated protector of Zelda. While Nintendo and Sony haven’t confirmed actress Elizabeth Lachman’s involvement, many fans believe she’s playing Impa. One viewer even commented, “That’s definitely Impa!”
I’m really excited to hear that Dichen Lachman, who was fantastic in ‘Severance,’ is reportedly joining the cast of the live-action ‘Legend of Zelda’ movie! I saw the news on Tony Olsen’s Instagram (@Tonyolsenfilm) and I’m already getting hyped!

If Lachman joins the cast, she’d bring a lot of experience and a captivating on-screen personality to the role, strengthening the ensemble alongside Ainsworth and Bragason. She’s particularly skilled at playing powerful, enigmatic characters, which makes her a great choice to play Zelda’s protector.
