As a seasoned Marvel fan with over two decades of comic book history under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation regarding ‘Agatha All Along.’ While I’ve grown accustomed to Marvel’s knack for weaving intricate storylines that often require a keen eye to spot the threads, the musical themes and potential LGBTQ+ representation have left some fans feeling hesitant.
Among the cherished characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlet Witch stands out due to her deeply moving odyssey marked by profound tragedy. Initially portrayed as somewhat antagonistic, she made commendable decisions, but ended up losing everyone dear to her heart, ultimately reverting back to a villainous role. Her act of atonement was poignantly displayed when she selflessly gave up her life, halting her destructive rampage and obliterating all versions of the Darkhold.
It seems that, at least for now, it appears Scarlet Witch has perished in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s been talk of a solo film for her, but recent whispers indicate the studio might have decided to put that project on hold.
It’s possible that Wanda won’t have a standalone film for her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but instead, we could see her in the upcoming miniseries ‘Agatha All Along.’ This series will show Agatha breaking free from captivity and trying to regain her magical powers. As she journeys, she’ll assemble a group of witches to aid her through the path of witchcraft.
Although the series holds promise, a significant number of viewers have chosen not to watch it due to their distaste for its melodic motifs and general atmosphere, particularly following the revelation that Joe Locke’s character is gay.
As a fervent fan, I’ve been pondering about the connection between Wanda and the upcoming show. It seems that the character of Lockheed is instrumental in this narrative. He will bring Billy Kaplan to life on screen, better known as Wiccan from the comics. Interestingly enough, Billy is one of Scarlet Witch’s sons!
Including Kaplan on the show carries weight, since ‘Agatha All Along’ might pave the way for the adaptation of the ‘Children’s Crusade’ storyline – a potential development that has been often discussed in the past.
‘The Children’s Crusade’ refers to a Marvel Comics story that was released in 2010-2011, divided into nine issues. This tale predominantly revolves around the Young Avengers and the Scarlet Witch.
In ‘The Children’s Crusade,’ a group of adolescent superheroes known as the Young Avengers embark on a journey to locate and engage with Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. Her power to manipulate reality led to a devastating event, and her actions during the ‘Avengers Disassembled’ and ‘House of M’ story arcs have left lasting impacts throughout the Marvel Universe.
In the forthcoming series, Billy could possibly employ Agatha or the Witches’ Pathway, after regaining her power, to attempt resurrecting “his mother.” While Agatha might not be as potent as the Scarlet Witch, she possesses sufficient magic to potentially initiate a sequence of events that may result in Wanda’s reappearance.
In other words, some fans who prefer a lighter approach might overlook essential scenes in ‘Agatha All Along’ because it delves into specific topics. If Scarlet Witch reappears in ‘Doomsday,’ those who skipped the series may find themselves perplexed about her role in the storyline.
