As a die-hard fan who’s followed Jeremy Madix’s journey since his days on Vanderpump Rules, it’s been quite a rollercoaster to witness this recent turn of events! Six months ago, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I heard about the alleged cannabis incident at Orlando International Airport. It was like watching an episode of the show, but in real life!
In a twist of events six months back, I found myself in the spotlight, much like my sister Ariana from Vanderpump Rules, as her brother Jeremy Madix was apprehended. The reason? An alleged attempt to transport over 100 pounds of cannabis on a flight bound for Germany. Quite an unexpected turn in our otherwise ordinary lives!
As reported by PEOPLE based on an arrest warrant, Jeremy was heading from Orlando International Airport to Frankfurt with his friend Jonah Ahad at approximately 8 p.m. local time on February 16, 2024. At this time, their journey was interrupted when a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer halted them.
Customs officials are said to have thoroughly searched three suitcases, which included two big black Tumi cases and a black Briggs & Riley case. Inside these cases, they reportedly found substantial amounts of green leafy material sealed in vacuum bags in each one. The warrant further mentioned that the plants tested “preliminarily positive” for cannabis, a substance frequently referred to as marijuana or weed.
According to the warrant, I was informed by authorities that an Orlando Police Department detective seized several suitcases. They asserted that among these, two specific bags bore the names Jeremy and Ahad. The former allegedly held approximately 64 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis, totaling around 76 pounds. The latter bag, belonging to Ahad, was said to contain about 31 vacuum-sealed parcels of cannabis, weighing roughly 37 pounds.
Six months past, TMZ broke the story as the initial media outlet to report this news. On a subsequent note, a court filing submitted by Jeremy’s legal representative on August 14th unveiled that Jeremy, famously recognized from Vanderpump Rules, was not apprehended until July 10th instead.
He was taken into custody at his home in Oceanside, California, and then deported to Florida.
Ariana’s mom, Tanya Madix, penned a letter expressing her backing for her son in court. In the letter, she informed the presiding judge that the 32-year-old is an exceptional, caring son and a considerate individual.
Tanya mentioned that Jeremy has resided in California for the past decade and flourished there. He’s got a great job and enjoys popularity and respect among his peers. Furthermore, she noted that he cohabits with his fiancée, Rachael, and their two pets. It’s worth mentioning that Jeremy takes great pride in his home and invests significant effort into enhancing the property.
A filing dated August 14th reveals that Jeremy’s bail has been fixed at $80,000, and he is required to hand over his passport within five days after being released on bail.
Currently, it’s unclear whether the person accused remains in detention, as per a report by PEOPLE.
