The New York Stock Exchange, that hallowed temple of capitalism, has become the latest stage for a peculiar spectacle: a statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic figure behind Bitcoin, that vanishes like a cryptocurrency bubble in a bear market. 🎭
Crafted by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi-whose name sounds like a cryptocurrency itself-the statue employs a layered-metal technique to achieve its optical illusion. From one angle, it’s there, proud and defiant; from another, it dissolves into thin air, much like Satoshi’s own identity. 🎨

Twenty One Capital places a statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of bitcoin, in NYSE. Its new home marks a shared ground between emerging systems and established institutions. From code to culture, the placement…

The installation, part of a global series of 21 monuments, took 21 months to complete-a nod to Bitcoin’s capped supply of 21 million coins. Yet, despite the meticulous planning, this ode to anonymity has already experienced its share of drama. In August 2025, a version of the statue in Lugano was stolen, only to be fished out of Lake Lugano by municipal workers. The incident, aided by a 0.1 BTC reward, underscored both the artwork’s symbolic value and its physical fragility. 🏞️
This is such an achievement, even in our wildest dream we wouldn’t think about placing the statue of Satoshi Nakamoto in this location!
The 6th/21 statues of Satoshi Nakamoto found its home in the NYSE.
Thank you

The NYSE installation has elicited mixed reactions. Twenty One Capital, the firm behind the project, saw its shares plummet by 19% during its trading debut-proof that even the most symbolic gestures can’t always soothe jittery investors. 💹
Where is Satoshi?
We are offering 0.1 btc to whoever will help us recovering the Statue of Satoshi Nakamoto that was stolen yesterday in Lugano.
You can steal our symbol but you will never be able to steal our souls.
Thank you all for the nice messages.
We are all in this…

Cultural commentators argue that the statue’s presence at the NYSE signals Bitcoin’s growing acceptance by traditional institutions. Yet, this juxtaposition of the digital and the historical also raises questions about anonymity, value, and the fragility of public memory. 🤔

What lies ahead? More installations are planned, with the project aiming for 21 locations. Will other financial hubs embrace these disappearing tributes? Or will they vanish along with Satoshi’s legacy? Only time-and perhaps a few more BTC rewards-will tell. ⏳
