Sarah Jessica Parker Gives a HOCUS POCUS 3 Update

The Sanderson sisters are set to make a comeback for another installment! Almost three decades have passed since the first Hocus Pocus movie hit the screens in 1993. Last year, fans got divided opinions about the sequel, but there was general excitement as Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy brought back to life those witch characters from Hocus Pocus. In 2023, it’s been confirmed by Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Pictures, that Hocus Pocus 3 is officially happening.

In that profile, the article straight-up says, “Yes, Hocus Pocus 3 is in the works.” Since then, we haven’t heard much else about it. However, Sarah Jessica Parker has recently provided a small update to reassure fans that the project for Hocus Pocus 3 is still under some form of consideration.

During my chat with Andy Cohen, I expressed that beyond our current endeavors, there are other projects we’re considering. We’ve been actively discussing these potential new ventures.

In the release of “Hocus Pocus 2”, screenwriter Jen D’Angelo subtly suggested a sequel featuring original characters Max Dennison (Omri Katz) and his girlfriend Allison Watts (Vinessa Shaw). Fingers crossed that they will reprise their roles in “Hocus Pocus 3”. Perhaps they are now married, with their child being the one to ignite the black flame candle. It’s worth mentioning there is a book from 2018 where they have a daughter named Poppy. Furthermore, fans would be overjoyed if Dani Dennison (Thora Birch) made a return in some form or another.

Earlier, D’Angelo shared a brief update about “Hocus Pocus 3” and highlighted one character in specific as intriguing. She explained to Entertainment Weekly that they are still developing the story, stating, “We’re still in the planning stages, we’re working on it. We’ve been brainstorming ideas, and it’s been exciting to revisit this universe and there are numerous paths we can take and new characters to introduce… We’ve barely tapped into Hannah Waddingham’s mother witch character. She even suggested that the mother witch role played by Waddingham might be the same one mentioned in the original 1993 film script.

At this moment, regarding a potential third film titled “Hocus Pocus 3”, various possibilities are open, yet it’s certain that we desire to see the Sanderson Sisters once more, all grown up.
