Samsung has introduced its latest lineup for the Galaxy A series, which includes three new models: the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. For the first time, these phones will feature AI capabilities, with Samsung launching a dedicated AI platform named “Awesome Intelligence” alongside its existing Galaxy AI platform that is found in the flagship Galaxy S series.
The three phones are equipped with Android 15 and Samsung’s latest One UI 7 right out of the package. Each device boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Display, although the viewable area is slightly smaller due to its rounded corners, measuring approximately 6.5-inches. The refresh rate can go up to 120Hz. It’s worth mentioning that these phones can reach 1,200 nits of maximum brightness, but they also include Vision Booster – a feature introduced with the Galaxy Tab S9 in 2023 – to enhance visibility in brighter conditions. Lastly, for enhanced durability, Samsung has applied Gorilla Glass on both the front and back surfaces of each device.
Samsung is emphasizing enhancements to the cameras on their latest phone models, where each one has received updates and sports a quad-camera system. The three phones share the same primary camera, a 50MP F1.8 lens with improved autofocus and integrated stabilization, but beyond that, they differ significantly.
The Samsung A56 comes equipped with a 12MP F2.2 ultra-wide lens, whereas the A36 and A26 boast an 8MP F2.2 ultra-wide lens; both the A56 and A36 have a 5MP F2.4 macro camera, while the A26 has a 2MP F2.4 macro camera. When it comes to the front-facing camera for selfies, both the A56 and A36 models offer a 12MP F2.2 lens capable of recording in 4K and 10-bit HDR.
Beyond delving into the technicalities, Samsung has incorporated numerous features intended to elevate user interaction. For instance, they have introduced a feature called “Best Face” which allows you to choose the most appealing facial expression from a series of photos it captures automatically, thus creating your ideal image. Additionally, there’s the “Object Eraser” function, enabling users to effortlessly eliminate unwanted elements within their photos. Furthermore, Samsung has improved low-light photography with “Nightography”, leveraging the enhanced camera sensors to produce striking visuals even in dimly lit conditions.
The battery capacity has been boosted across all models, and each device boasts a 5000mAh battery that utilizes Super Fast Charge 2.0 technology. The Samsung A56 is driven by the latest Exynos 1580 chipset, while the A36 sports the Snapdragon’s 6 Gen 3 mobile processor. All models arrive with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage as a base, but the Enterprise versions may offer slight variations. Being dust- and water-resistant, these devices carry an IP67 rating. Samsung guarantees “up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades” along with “six years of security updates” for each device in the new Galaxy A series, ensuring both longevity and user confidence.
The latest Samsung Galaxy A series has begun rolling out, with availability varying slightly depending on your location. In terms of cost, the A56 retails from £499 GBP or $499 USD, the A36 starts at £399 GBP or $399 USD, and the A26 is priced from £299 GBP or $299 USD.
