Saint Laurent is no longer just a clothing designer brand; it’s a trendsetter, film producer, and more recently, a gastronomic adventure. After the success of their 2022 collaboration, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello and Peter Park, the founding chef of Sushi Park, have joined forces to open a new interactive shopping and dining experience in Paris.
Known and frequently visited by stars like Justin Bieber, the Kardashians, Dua Lipa, and others, Sushi Park is set to unveil its first permanent restaurant location outside of its LA flagship. This unique dining experience will debut on February 21st, nestled within the freshly refurbished Saint Laurent RIVE DROITE boutique in Paris’s opulent shopping district, the first arrondissement. The restaurant is a part of Yves Saint Laurent’s ongoing renovation project, which includes a bookstore and art gallery space in the seventh arrondissement, BABYLONE, personally curated by creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
Over the weekend, the high-end residence showcased the unveiling of their collaboration on Instagram with a brief movie directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti. This movie, which features popular celebrities and brand representatives like Lourdes Leon, Saint Levant, Dominic Sessa, among others, was its star. The mini film offers a sneak peek into the carefully designed interior of the upcoming location, showcasing dramatic, sculptural furniture in a dark palette and unique ceramics specially created by Professor Kim.
As a gamer, I’d say this movie was brought to life under the creative banner of Saint Laurent Productions, which made its grand entrance in 2023. This production house has been fortunate enough to have directors like David Cronenberg, Nadia Lee Cohen, and Paolo Sorrentino on board, with the latter collaborating with Jacques Audiard as a co-producer for his critically acclaimed film Emilia Perez, which even earned an Oscar nomination.
The Sushi Park partnership and BABYLONE are part of the company’s broader initiatives to enrich the shopping journey by introducing elements from the culinary and literary realms. This isn’t a new approach for the brand, as others have also ventured into these sectors. For instance, Jacquemus has teamed up with Restaurant Caviar Kaspia in Paris, Gucci operates Osteria da Massimo Bottura (a Michelin-starred eatery in Florence), Bottega Veneta curates Fanzines, and Miu Miu continues its Women’s Tales film anthology. Each project seems to be a reflection of luxury conglomerates’ efforts to expand their horizons, as consumers increasingly ponder what the future of brick-and-mortar shopping might hold.
Starting February 21st, you’ll find Sushi Park Paris located on the RIGHT BANK open for business from Tuesdays through Saturdays. You can secure a spot by calling, sending an email, or booking online at Sushi Park Paris.
