Sadie Sink Said To Be Jean Grey In Spider-Man: Brand New Day

A recent rumor suggests that Sadie Sink is being considered to play Jean Grey in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. If true, this could mean Marvel will introduce the X-Men through Tom Holland’s Spider-Man before they officially appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

What does the rumor say?

According to Josh from Den of Nerds on X, Sadie Sink has been cast as Jean Grey, and reports claiming otherwise are incorrect.

Josh claims Marvel misled people regarding Sadie, similar to what he alleges they did with Jeff Sneider and the rumor about Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom before it became widely known. He believes the truth will eventually be revealed.

Fox X-Men Set For Avengers: Doomsday

If the rumors about Sadie Sink are true, Marvel might be using the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day to subtly prepare audiences for the introduction of mutants into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is expected to happen after Avengers: Secret Wars.

The X-Men, featuring characters like Fox, will be in Avengers: Doomsday, a movie coming out shortly after Brand New Day.

The upcoming story, Doomsday, will bring back the well-known team from the classic X-Men comics and movies, featuring favorites like Professor X, Magneto, Beast, and Cyclops.

Since Brand New Day comes out July 31, 2026, and Doomsday releases December 18, 2026, the next Spider-Man movie has a great opportunity to subtly introduce the idea of mutants before Marvel’s big multiversal crossover event.

How Sadie Sink Fits In: Variant or the MCU’s First Real Mutant?

If Sink is Jean Grey, several theories immediately make sense.

Marvel might be introducing a new, younger Jean Grey, potentially a different version of the character, which would allow her to appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films. This approach would also let them preserve the original Jean Grey from the X-Men films for a possible Doomsday project.

Marvel could also introduce the primary MCU version of Jean Grey through Spider-Man, potentially connecting Peter Parker to the story of mutants from the beginning.

There’s speculation that Jean from The Marvels could be the second mutant introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following Kamala Khan. However, this is uncertain, especially considering rumors that Marvel Studios might be retconning some of their postEndgame* plans.

Even so, bringing Jean Grey into a Spider-Man movie would immediately expand Peter Parker’s world beyond typical street-level crimes, linking him to the larger mutant storyline within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s speculation that Peter and MJ might have a daughter, May Parker, who could be a mutant and is rumored to be played by Sadie Sink.

Spider-Man and Jean Grey in the Comics

Although Spider-Man and Jean Grey weren’t romantically involved for very long in the comics, they do have a shared history with some memorable moments together.

I first saw these two team up way back in the 1970s, in the pages of Marvel Team-Up! They actually fought with the very first X-Men team back then, which was really cool.

One of their first team-ups even had Peter kiss Jean before swinging away (pictured above).

The team also faced dangers from across the universe, and Jean was frequently shown as one of its strongest heroes.

Eventually, Spider-Man became a teacher at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, bringing him into the X-Men universe and allowing him to connect with characters closely linked to Jean Grey’s story.

Although they haven’t often been paired together, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel introduced these two characters together in a movie or show.
