Ryan Reynolds Finally Admits to Leaking Original DEADPOOL Footage

At the Toronto International Film Festival, Ryan Reynolds admitted he intentionally leaked the Deadpool footage to generate excitement among fans, thereby demonstrating that the concept had potential. According to EW, Reynolds stated, “Yes, I took a small shortcut, but I believed people would be intrigued by it.” He continued, expressing gratitude for following his instincts and making a choice that turned out to be wrong at the moment.

Someone carelessly shares it on the web, and I find myself, as I stand there brushing my teeth in front of the mirror, questioning the actions of the person looking back at me, saying, ‘What on earth have you done? Such an action could potentially break the law!’ However, the internet’s swift reaction ultimately compelled the studio to declare, ‘We will produce this film.’ And amazingly, within a day, that film had received its go-ahead.

The 2016 film, produced on a modest budget of approximately $58 million, went on to earn an impressive $780 million globally. This was a highly profitable investment for everyone involved. Deadpool, portrayed by Reynolds, quickly became one of the most beloved cinematic superheroes and continues to be so. The 2018 sequel, Deadpool 2, made slightly more than $785 million, despite having a higher budget of $110 million. However, it was Deadpool & Wolverine from last year that truly shone, with a production cost of $200 million and earnings of an astonishing $1.338 billion. Who would have thought R-rated superhero films wouldn’t succeed?
