Rick Owens, often referred to as the “Lord of Darkness”, graced Paris Fashion Week on day four’s evening, showcasing Fall/Winter 2025 designs that vanquished his inner struggles. The collection, named “Concordians,” was inspired by the designer’s youthful years spent in the small Italian town of Concordia, where he resided prior to Porterville.
When launching his self-titled brand, the designer experienced tranquility amidst solitude within his manufacturing facility. Eager to sync with the beat of an industrial workflow, Owens lived at his workplace for the subsequent five years.
The designer drew inspiration from his latest Rimowa collaboration to revert back to basic design principles, creating leather flight jackets characterized by rounded shoulders and enlarged collars for a more dramatic look. Luxurious wool was used to construct asymmetrical outerwear adorned with silver accents, while gowns were deconstructed to expose patches of skin through slashes. Additionally, Owens experimented with innovative draping methods and transformed glossy felt into ominous floor-length gowns that would captivate anyone who saw them.
The FW25 collection was shaped by collaborations, with the partnership between him and London’s Leo Prothmann resulting in leather chaps transforming into slouchy Kiss Boots. Matisse Dimaggio, a designer from Paris, contributed to the creation of pleated tops and hoodies, while Tanja Vidic designed apocalyptic knitwear for Rick Owens’ team.
