In a fresh development, Reebok has appointed Jide Osifeso as its new Head of Basketball. This announcement was made after the brand refocused its attention on the performance category. Osifeso, who is also the founder of streetwear label Hymne, has been working behind the scenes for Reebok since last summer. In this role, he’s been injecting his innovative ideas into Reebok’s basketball apparel and footwear designs. The news was reported by BoF.

Osifeso, who’s known for his collaborations with brands like Reigning Champ and Reebok, as well as creating merchandise for artists such as Kendrick Lamar and SZA, and a special collection with Daniel Kaluuya for Jordan Peele’s “Nope”, is a well-recognized figure in the industry. Yet, he also brings a youthful vibrancy that helps Reebok stay culturally relevant today. Working with some of the key influencers in modern pop culture, his impact is significant.

Starting my journey with Reebok as Senior Director of Marketing–Footwear and Product Management back in 2019, I’ve been tasked with steering the brand’s basketball division. Right off the bat, I’ve been focusing on connecting with Gen Z, forging partnerships with rising stars like WNBA player Angel Reese and NBA player Matas Buzelis. The challenge now lies in bringing Reebok back to its former glory in the performance category, following Authentic Brands Group’s acquisition of the brand from adidas for $2.5 billion USD in 2021. Only time will reveal if I can successfully revive Reebok’s status in this competitive field.
