Rebecca Ferguson Reveals Emotional On-Set Incident That Made Her Cry — 5 Co-Stars Are Officially Cleared of Misconduct

I was really saddened to hear Rebecca Ferguson talk again about a difficult experience she had on set with a former co-star. She shared a while back that someone actually yelled at her during filming, and it really shook her up and made her feel vulnerable. She first discussed it on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast earlier this year, in 2024.

Ferguson recalled a time when a co-star, who was the lead on set, was incredibly insecure and lashed out in anger because they were struggling with their lines. Ferguson felt vulnerable and uncomfortable and ended up being yelled at, with no one intervening because of the co-star’s position. It was so upsetting that Ferguson would often cry after leaving the set.

She recalled her co-star making hurtful comments, questioning her abilities as an actor and expressing dissatisfaction with her performance. She remembered feeling devastated and completely shattered by the experience.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, published on February 5th, Sarah Ferguson revisited a frightening experience from her past. She explained that she didn’t know how to politely ask for a private conversation at the time, but now feels she could have handled the situation differently by taking the person aside. Ferguson also shared her thoughts on changes in Hollywood, saying that while some believe the industry has become “too woke,” she views it as a positive development. She believes this shift is necessary to achieve a better balance.

There’s been a lot of guessing about who was involved in the incident, but Ferguson has now said several famous actors aren’t connected. Hugh Jackman, a former co-star in both The Greatest Showman and Reminiscence, is not the person who confronted her, and Ferguson has publicly confirmed this, speaking highly of him in interviews.

Tom Cruise wasn’t involved either. Ferguson explained the incident occurred on a film set within the last decade or so, and since she worked with Cruise much earlier than that, he has no connection to the story.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who worked with Ferguson on the 2014 film Hercules, also seems unaffected by the accusations. Johnson publicly supported Ferguson on Twitter, praising her for speaking out and sharing that she was a protective and positive presence on set. He expressed his care for her and said he wants to find out who is responsible. After this, Ferguson reportedly began following Johnson on Instagram, suggesting their relationship remains positive.

Emily Blunt, who starred with Rebecca Ferguson in the 2016 film The Girl on the Train, has also been confirmed to be unaffected by these reports. A representative for Blunt told the Daily Mail that the two actresses are still friends and have a positive relationship, stating, “Rebecca and Emily are friends and there’s nothing but love between them.”

Ryan Reynolds, who previously collaborated with Ferguson on the 2017 movie Life, was also determined not to be the actor they were looking for. Ferguson later told The Times in a 2025 interview that it wasn’t Reynolds.

Ferguson openly discussed the difficulties actors sometimes encounter on film sets, particularly when working with powerful colleagues. By sharing her story, she emphasizes how crucial respect and a safe environment are in Hollywood.
