Gal Gadot has spoken out about the issues surrounding the troubled production of “Snow White,” expressing her belief that political factors significantly contributed to the movie’s downfall.
During an interview on the show The A Talks in Israel, Gadot shared her thoughts about the film’s response and admitted that she believed Snow White would be extremely popular before external factors altered the situation entirely.
Gadot expressed that filming the movie was an enjoyable experience for her, with lots of laughter and conversation alongside Rachel Zegler. She confidently believed that the movie would turn out to be a major success.
Blames Post-October 7 Backlash
Gal Gadot, with her past service in the Israeli military and public support for Israel, opines that the October 7 events and the subsequent political pressure on celebrities to express their views may have significantly influenced the movie’s box office success.
On October 7th, there was a significant event that unfolded… Many celebrities, actors, and content creators found themselves under immense public pressure to express their opinions against Israel. This situation, she noted, came into being.
Gadot also mentioned that she often provides “background” or understanding about what’s happening in Israel. However, ultimately, individuals form their opinions on their own.
I was disheartened to find the film heavily influenced by various factors, resulting in its poor performance at the box office. However, such is life – victories and defeats are part of the game.
Here is Gadot’s full quote:
I truly relished filming that movie; it was an enjoyable experience, indeed. Working with Rachel Zegler added to the fun – we shared laughter and conversations. Initially, I was optimistic that the movie would be a massive success. However, on October 7th, several events unfolded across various industries, not just Hollywood, causing immense pressure on celebrities, actors, and creators to take a stand against Israel. As expected, many complied. While I often try to provide global context regarding the complexities in Israel, ultimately, people form their own opinions. Regrettably, I was disheartened to see that the movie underperformed at the box office, despite the pressure. Yet, one must accept both victories and losses.

Politics to blame? Or Rachel Zegler?
Gadot’s remarks introduce an unexpected twist in the story of Snow White’s decline, as the film has been under fire due to Rachel Zegler’s controversial statements about the original version and her political discussions during promotional events.
In simpler terms, while Gal Gadot criticized Hollywood, the son of the Snow White producer claimed Lin-Manuel Miranda (not named in the original) and accused him of needing to meet with Rachel Zegler himself to ask her to tone it down.
The movie titled Snow White ultimately struggled significantly at the ticket counters, leading Disney to officially declare it as a financial loss in their subsequent financial reports for investors.
What’s next for Gal Gadot?
In the same interview, she revealed she recently finished filming the action thriller The Runner.
While I was shooting a movie in London, my husband Jaron, our oldest daughters, and some family members stayed back in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, I was in London with our two youngest daughters. At that time, we were living apart, so our parents and the nanny looked after the girls. Suddenly, I felt incredibly lonely. During the filming, a group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators singled me out for protests and personal attacks. It was a tough and unpleasant experience, filled with complications. I felt isolated throughout it all.
In a change of plans, Gal Gadot will not reprise her role as Wonder Woman, as director James Gunn has scrapped Wonder Woman 3 and plans to recast the character instead.
What’s next for Rachel Zegler?
Right now, Zegler is captivating audiences in the London stage production titled “Evita“. It’s being widely reported that she is garnering significant acclaim for her performance.
In another announcement, it’s been revealed that Zegler will feature in the comedy-drama titled “She Gets It From Me“. This is an independent film with a modest budget, where she portrays the role of the daughter of a former punk rocker mother who is dependent on pills, characteristically played by Marisa Tomei.
She’s currently being whispered to take on the role in The Sound of Music, similar to the one that Julie Andrews once played famously.
