Peter Greene, the actor known for his roles in films like Pulp Fiction and The Mask, passed away on Friday at his home in New York City’s Lower East Side. He was 60 years old, according to his manager, Gregg Edwards.
Police found Robert Greene unresponsive at his apartment on Clinton Street around 3:25 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities don’t believe there was any wrongdoing, but the medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
Greene rose to prominence in the 1990s playing bad guys, and he was known for the powerful, realistic way he portrayed them.
His manager said he was a dedicated perfectionist who always gave his best in every part he played. According to Edwards, he was a wonderful person and a truly gifted actor – one of the best of his time – with a huge heart. ‘I’m going to miss him dearly; he was a great friend,’ Edwards added.
Throughout his career, Michael Greene acted in many well-known films. He’s remembered for roles like Zed in Pulp Fiction, Dorian Tyrell in The Mask, Peter Winter in Clean, Shaven, and Redfoot in The Usual Suspects. He also appeared in films such as Judgment Night, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, Training Day, and The Bounty Hunter, frequently playing the part of a complicated villain.
You know, I was reading about Graham Greene, and it turns out he really battled some demons. He dealt with heroin and cocaine addiction way back in the nineties, a tough time for a lot of people. Then, in 2007, he actually got arrested for having crack cocaine. But, according to those close to him, like Edwards, he really managed to get his life back on track and overcome a lot of personal issues. It’s good to hear stories of people fighting those kinds of battles and coming out on top.
Greene was about to start filming a new thriller, Mascots, starring Mickey Rourke in January when he passed away. The film’s director, Kerry Mondragón, was deeply saddened by the news, according to Edwards.
Edwards remembered him working with many talented actors and directors, and considered his role as Dorian Tyrell in The Mask to be his finest performance. He also noted that the actor battled personal struggles but ultimately found strength and success.
Peter Greene was a memorable figure in Hollywood, best known for his captivating performances as villains that audiences continue to remember.
