Yoshida’s PORTER introduced “FILAMENT,” their latest addition to the LUGGAGE LABEL line after a year-long hiatus. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of “on-ko-chi-shin” or “learning from the past to create something new,” this collection pays homage to centuries of artisanal bamboo craftsmanship. By focusing on this traditional yet subtle material, this series showcases Japan’s rich history of ingenuity, transforming a common natural element into a sophisticated accessory line that adds understated elegance to everyday life.

The collection’s focal point is a unique bamboo handle that has been heat-treated, artfully combined with a single strip of supple leather. By weaving the leather beneath the bamboo, the bag’s opening naturally closes due to its own weight, providing both aesthetic elegance and user-friendly functionality. The soft leather is fortified with an interlining typically used in woven fabric bag making, thereby eliminating the need for breaking it in. The brass rivets’ faces are inverted, which not only ensures a snag-free, comfortable feel but also subtly enhances the collection’s minimalist design by adding depth and shadow.

The bag’s main part is made of canvas textured like nature for a subtle yet robust appearance that stays upright regardless of how full it is. Strong webbing, stitched on a bias, surrounds the contents on both sides and runs down to the base for support. Inside, there’s a central divider with a diagonal pocket cut into it, which helps keep items organized and makes retrieval easy.

Introducing three distinct styles: the Vertical Tote Bag, Tote Bag, and 2WAY Shoulder Bag, all part of our new collection. They come in both Black and Sand shades. A unique feature of this line is the 2WAY style, which boasts a wide shoulder strap that can be folded to serve as a cover for the opening.
