‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Star Confirms They’re Out of the Next Movie

Keira Knightley has stated she won’t be reprising her role as Elizabeth Swann in any future Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The 40-year-old actress told PEOPLE at a London screening of *The Woman in Cabin 10* on September 25th that she doesn’t intend to revisit the character she first portrayed in 2003.

Keira Knightley played a key role in the first *Pirates of the Caribbean* movie, where her character, Elizabeth Swann, needed rescuing from the pirate Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) by Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) on the ship, the Black Pearl. The fifth film in the series, *Dead Men Tell No Tales*, was released in 2017.

Knightley confirmed that there haven’t been any talks about a new movie. She said she was just hearing the question for the first time, and there are currently no discussions happening.

She said she believes her time as a pirate is over. While she enjoyed those years and is glad she participated, she thinks her days of adventure are likely finished-though she joked that she still looks the part tonight.

Orlando Bloom has said he’d love to reunite with the original cast. At Fan Expo Chicago in 2025, he explained that a successful reunion depends on having a good script and getting everyone on board. He believes if those pieces fall into place, bringing the whole team back together is definitely possible.

Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer, mentioned he’s talked with Johnny Depp about possibly making a sixth film. He believes Depp would be interested if he liked the script, explaining that the quality of the writing is the most important factor.

Now that Keira Knightley has left the film series, producers are still talking about what’s next, and haven’t ruled out bringing back other actors from the original cast or introducing new characters to lead the story.
