Pierce Brosnan recently discussed his experience with DC Comics and suggested his character could return in future projects, leaving fans hopeful for more appearances.
Pierce Brosnan portrayed Doctor Fate in Black Adam, a film released just before James Gunn began overseeing the DC movie universe. He recently stated that, despite the change at DC, he isn’t actively seeking roles at Marvel.
“That’s not true,” Brosnan responded. “I’ve never had to aggressively pursue anyone. People know how to reach me if they want to.” He then mentioned something he’d been told by others in the industry.
He mentioned rumors about Dr. Fate potentially getting his own TV show or movie, and also being included in the next Superman film. He expressed his enjoyment of the role and said he’d be interested in reprising it if the opportunity arose.
Although Pierce Brosnan’s remarks made headlines, DC Comics is also actively developing its future projects. James Gunn is currently working on the next installment of the Superman story.
According to reports, he began working on a new Superman movie around the middle of 2025. While it will continue Superman’s story, it won’t be a typical sequel. Later in the year, Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav confirmed that Gunn would both write and direct the film, which they’re calling part of a larger “Super-Family” series.
James Gunn announced the next DC movie will be called Man of Tomorrow, scheduled for release on July 9, 2027. He described it as the first part of a larger story arc he’s planning for Superman. The film will heavily feature both Superman and Lex Luthor, with Gunn stating it’s equally about both characters. Brainiac will serve as the primary antagonist. Production is slated to begin in Atlanta in April 2026.
News about potential spin-off shows has also emerged. One idea focuses on Jimmy Olsen, and would stream on HBO Max. The show would feature Olsen hosting a true-crime program, investigating famous villains with his colleagues from the Daily Planet. The first season is expected to include Gorilla Grodd.
