Max has a lot of popular shows and movies right now, including new originals, established favorites, and reality TV from the Discovery family. No matter what you like to watch – from superhero adventures and late-night talk shows to cartoons and true crime documentaries – there’s something for everyone on the streaming service.
Here’s a list of the shows people are watching the most, starting with number 10 and counting down to the top pick. For each show, we’ll give you a quick overview – what it’s about, who stars in it, and who created it – so you know what to expect.
10. ‘The Real Murders on Elm Street’ (2024–present)
Investigation Discovery’s docuseries examines actual murder cases that happened on streets named Elm Street in the U.S. It combines interviews with people who survived the crimes and insights from police to separate the truth from the myths and stories surrounding these events.
The show first aired in 2024, and new episodes are coming in 2025. It’s part of a growing collection of true crime content from ID, available to stream on Max along with other original series.
9. ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ (2019–present)
This new TLC show takes a different approach to the network’s typical format. It follows American couples who move to foreign countries to be with their partners, and it explores the challenges they face – from adjusting to new cultures and languages to navigating legal issues – as they build a life together.
New seasons feature both fresh relationships and updates on existing ones, and you can watch episodes on TLC or stream them the next day on Max.
8. ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ (2016–present)
This TLC show follows couples from ’90 Day Fiancé’ after they’ve gotten married and moved to the U.S. Each season features different popular couples as they adjust to life together.
As a reality TV fan, I’m already hooked on the new season coming in 2025! It’s going to follow several couples, with new episodes dropping every week on TLC and streaming on Max. From the sneak peeks, it looks like things are *really* heating up – lots of relationship drama and complicated family stuff, which, let’s be honest, is exactly what I tune in for.
7. ‘Halloween Baking Championship’ (2015–present)
Each season, Food Network challenges bakers to create spooky and impressive desserts on elaborately decorated sets. John Henson hosts the competition, and judges Carla Hall, Zac Young, and Stephanie Boswell decide who wins the $25,000 prize.
Season 11 began airing on September 15, 2025, with a fresh format featuring a “Haunted Heat” kickoff and a “Bake for Your Life” challenge to determine who goes home. You can watch the episodes on Food Network and stream them on Max.
6. ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ (2014–present)
John Oliver’s weekly HBO show takes a detailed look at important current events, politics, and social issues. Paul Pennolino directs, and John Oliver, Tim Carvell, Liz Stanton, Jon Thoday, and James Taylor are executive producers.
Now in its twelfth season as of 2025, the show is still winning big awards, recently earning Emmys for both Outstanding Scripted Variety Series and Writing for a Variety Series. You can watch all episodes on Max.
5. ‘Baylen Out Loud’ (2025–present)
I’ve been really enjoying this new reality series on TLC! It follows Baylen Dupree, a young woman who shares what life is like living with Tourette’s syndrome. The show is super personal – we get to see her everyday struggles and triumphs, her relationship with her fiancé, and how she navigates life with her big family spread across West Virginia and Virginia. What’s really inspiring is seeing her use her platform to advocate for more understanding of Tourette’s, too. It’s a really honest and heartwarming show.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to share that new episodes are dropping on TLC and you can also catch them on Max! Season two actually kicked off in 2025, and it’s been amazing following Baylen’s journey – especially with his engagement and all the big moments happening with his family. It’s all thanks to the team at Michael Levitt Productions, who really bring these stories to life.
4. ‘The Friday the 13th Murders’ (2025–present)
This true-crime series on Investigation Discovery explores murders that happened on or near Friday the 13th. It combines firsthand accounts from investigators with expert analysis to examine how beliefs about the date may connect to these tragic events.
You can find information about seasons and episodes on ID’s website, and the series is now streaming on Max as part of the ID library thanks to the recent Warner Bros. Discovery merger.
3. ‘Smiling Friends’ (2020–present)
Created by Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack for Adult Swim, this animated show centers around a quirky company that tries to make unusual clients happy. It’s visually unique, blending classic animation with techniques like rotoscoping, computer animation, stop-motion, and even short clips of real people. Hadel and Cusack also provide the voices for many of the characters, alongside Marc M. and other regulars.
The show initially premiered in 2022, following a pilot episode made in 2020. It’s been popular enough to earn multiple renewals, and season 3 will debut on October 5, 2025, on Adult Swim. You can also watch episodes on Max.
2. ‘Task’ (2025–present)
This HBO crime drama, created by Brad Ingelsby (known for ‘Mare of Easttown’), centers on an FBI agent in the Philadelphia area (played by Mark Ruffalo) who leads a task force investigating a series of dangerous robberies. The mastermind behind the crimes is surprisingly a seemingly ordinary family man (Tom Pelphrey). The cast also features Emilia Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Raúl Castillo, Alison Oliver, Fabien Frankel, Jamie McShane, and Martha Plimpton.
The show debuted on HBO and began streaming on Max on September 7, 2025. Talented filmmakers like Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield directed the episodes, and the music was composed by Dan Deacon. The series is a wiip and HBO Entertainment production, and critics have given it positive reviews so far.
1. ‘Peacemaker’ (2022–present)
Created by James Gunn for HBO Max, ‘Peacemaker’ is a series that began as a spin-off from the 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad’. John Cena plays the lead role of Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, and he’s joined by a main cast including Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick (in season 1), with Frank Grillo joining the cast for season 2. The show is a mix of action and dark humor, following Peacemaker on dangerous missions where his extreme dedication to peace is constantly challenged.
Wow, Season 2 ended on such a huge cliffhanger! It feels like it’s connected to everything happening in the DC Universe, and James Gunn has hinted we might see resolutions to that storyline pop up in other DC shows and movies instead of getting a quick Season 3. If you missed it, both seasons are available to stream on Max, and I highly recommend checking them out!
