They call it Palantir. A name plucked from myth, promising foresight. But foresight for whom? For the few who feast while others scrape by? This company… it’s a curious beast. They boast of quarter after quarter of growth, and the stock climbs, fueled by a fervor I confess I don’t share. It’s not that I doubt their craft; it’s that I distrust the price of it. A man can smell a phantom in the market, and this stock… it carries a scent of unreality.
Many chase this share, blinded by the sheen. They see potential, I see a gamble. A perilous one, for those who don’t understand the currents beneath the surface. It’s a fool’s errand to leap before looking, especially when the stakes are so high.
The Machine’s Promise
Palantir builds its tools for those who wield power – governments, corporations. They sift through mountains of data, seeking patterns, making decisions. Originally, it was a means for the state to observe, to control. Now, they offer the same service to those who can afford it. They speak of artificial intelligence, of insight. But what is insight without empathy? What is knowledge without responsibility?
Their revenue grows from both the public and private sectors. The government still provides the lion’s share, but the commercial side is gaining ground, expanding at a rate that outpaces its public counterpart. A clever maneuver, to diversify the source of their strength. It’s a testament to their skill, I’ll grant them that.
They claim a substantial profit margin – a rare sight in this age of reckless ambition. A healthy sign, to be sure. But profit alone doesn’t build a just world. It merely greases the wheels of the machine. They’ve built a fine engine, no doubt. But what will it drive us towards?
A fast-growing product, coupled with impressive profitability and a diverse customer base. A potent combination, and one I begrudgingly admire. But admiration doesn’t translate to investment. Not at this price.
The Weight of Expectation
The market has already bestowed upon Palantir a premium valuation. Eighty times sales. A king’s ransom for a promise. It’s a gamble built on air, a house of cards waiting for a gust of wind. They’ve convinced the masses to dream, to believe in a future that may never arrive.

They are profitable, yes, which softens the blow. But even profitability can be a mirage when expectations run wild. To justify this price, Palantir must not simply grow – it must soar. And that, my friends, is a dangerous proposition. They’ve baked years of relentless expansion into this valuation. A single misstep, a slight stumble, and the whole structure could come crashing down.

I’ve seen this dance before. The frenzy, the hype, the inevitable reckoning. I’ve paid the piper for my naiveté, and I have no desire to repeat the mistake. I remain skeptical, not because I doubt their abilities, but because I fear the consequences of unchecked ambition. The market is a harsh mistress, and she rewards only the patient and the prudent. Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps Palantir will defy the odds. But I’ll watch from the sidelines, content to let others bear the risk. There are other battles to fight, other fortunes to seek. And some things, even in this age of greed, are simply not worth the price.
