Iconic STAR WARS Poster Artist and Fantasy Illustrator Greg Hildebrandt Dies, Age 85

As a devoted admirer, I’m deeply saddened to share that the legendary fantasy and sci-fi artist, Greg Hildebrandt, has left us at the age of 85. The news reached me from the reliable sources at Gizmodo. Alongside his twin brother Tim, this prolific artist graced the worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien, Marvel and DC Comics, and numerous iconic movie posters with his illustrations. However, it’s for the artwork he created in 1977, specifically the Star Wars poster for A New Hope, that he will be most fondly remembered. Even though A New Hope had multiple posters, Fox licensed this one for merchandise globally, and over time, it became synonymous with the film itself.

It’s now 25 years since “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” was released in cinemas, and we’re still discovering fascinating details about its creation. A recently shared revelation would have come as a significant surprise to viewers if it had been implemented. In an interview with StarWars.com, as reported by Variety, veteran Lucasfilm concept artist Iain McCaig disclosed that George Lucas initially intended a significant twist for the first prequel movie. Originally, Ewan McGregor’s character Obi-Wan Kenobi and Liam Neeson’s character Qui-Gon Jinn were supposed to be switched. To put it differently, their roles would have been reversed in terms of names.

The Multiverse Halloween event has sparked criticism for appearing to be overly focused on revenue generation from ‘whales’, or big spenders, and being more money-grabbing than typical events in this genre. I’m not implying that the passionate Multiversus enthusiasts are wrong to voice their discontent about it.

The cast of The Avengers got together again to back Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. elections, and they developed a promotional campaign in the classic style of the Avengers. In a video posted by Vanity Fair, actors Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Danai Gurira, and Paul Bettany humorously incorporated references to their Marvel Cinematic Universe characters while concocting a “catchphrase” for the Democratic presidential nominee.
