Over the years, Black Sabbath has seen numerous variations, and they are now preparing for their last official live performance. This historic event, titled “Back to the Beginning“, is set to take place on July 5 in Birmingham, England. The legendary band will be accompanied by other renowned artists. So if you haven’t secured your ticket yet, it might be a good idea to ask a friend for one.
The concert wouldn’t have been as flawless without Ozzy Osbourne‘s performance, given that he has faced numerous health issues in recent years. At the age of 76, he underwent spinal surgery in 2023 following a fall, which further complicated his pre-existing back issues.
Essentially, Ozzy Osbourne aims to give a performance at the Birmingham concert, but there are ongoing concerns regarding his physical condition. To make things clear for fans, he wishes to set appropriate expectations prior to attending the show. It’s possible that he may only be able to sing a couple of songs.
Ozzy Osbourne gets real about performing with Black Sabbath again
Absolutely, given that Black Sabbath has experienced numerous lineup changes, each performance might be limited to just a few songs. Attempting to cover their entire catalog would be overwhelming. However, any opportunity for Ozzy Osbourne to reunite with Tony Iommi and the band is eagerly anticipated, even if it’s just for one or two songs.
In a recent chat with The Guardian, Osbourne admitted that due to numerous health problems throughout the years, he now resides far from the thrill of rock and roll living. Instead of frequenting bars, you’re more likely to find him playing with his grandchildren. He’s given up drinking altogether.
Osbourne expressed, “For about 50 years, I’ve been traveling and moving around. Now, I find comfort in staying put. I no longer engage in drug use or the rock star lifestyle. Instead, I prefer a quiet life at home. I rarely go out, I don’t socialize in bars – I don’t drink… What I desire now is to spend time with my grandchildren. I don’t wish to pass away in a hotel room. I want to spend the remainder of my days with my family.
The mention of avoiding death in a hotel room stands out, given the number of musicians who have met such fates. Regrettably, their lives often get consumed by their lifestyle rather than their music. Ozzy Osbourne, however, managed to navigate the allure of a rock star’s life and emerged (both figuratively and literally) from it sober. Despite this, he remains capable of delivering powerful performances, albeit in a more restrained manner.
In the event named “Back to the Beginning”, Black Sabbath will be accompanied by bands such as Tool, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, and Billy Corgan, along with others. Unfortunately, the tickets for this event have already been sold out.
