It appears that “Avengers: Doomsday” is gearing up to be a massive Marvel spectacle with numerous well-known actors reprising their roles from various realities. The ensemble includes talents such as Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Pedro Pascal, and even Robert Downey Jr. However, unlike his previous role as Iron Man, Downey Jr. will be stepping into the antagonist part, portraying Doctor Doom in this instance.
In addition, the film features some familiar stars from previous X-Men movies, such as Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn.
At the extensive livestream presentation where the majority of the cast was unveiled, Marvel’s head honcho, Kevin Feige, along with a few confidants, hinted that there may be even more shocking announcements in store.
While it’s exciting to see many beloved characters return, not all fan favorites are making a comeback. For instance, Sean Gunn, who played Kraglin Obfonteri in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, has confirmed he won’t be featured in Avengers: Doomsday. Kraglin appeared in six Marvel productions, including all three Guardians movies, the Holiday Special, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Avengers: Endgame.
Here’s another way to phrase it: Sean Gunn confirms that he is available for Marvel whenever they need him, but not as Rocket due to knee issues and aging. He doesn’t believe there will be a Funko figure of his character in the Superman movie, among other things. He also shared videos from his press conference.

It seems Sean Gunn has got a new acting gig in the DC Universe. His character will be Maxwell Lord, a notable villain linked to Justice League and Wonder Woman in DC Comics lore. You can expect to see him in an upcoming Superman film and the second season of Peacemaker, both set for release shortly.
In light of my new position and relocation to DC, it seems unlikely that I’ll be rejoining Marvel anytime soon. Though the prospect of me portraying a villain excites many fans, not everyone has been pleased. Some viewers have even criticized James Gunn, my brother and head of DC Studios, for favoritism in casting me in numerous projects. However, these are just assumptions, as the final decisions lie with the creative teams involved.
Approximately a year and half ago, Zachary Levi (the actor who portrayed Shazam in the DC Extended Universe) expressed his thoughts on this matter. When questioned about actors like Jason Momoa and Sean Gunn potentially remaining in the freshly established DCU, Levi appeared taken aback and mentioned that he wasn’t aware Sean had any roles within the DCEU at that point.
Levi joked, “When you’re the brother of the guy who runs DC, I guess you get to play who you want.”
Despite varying opinions, it’s evident that Sean Gunn continues to progress in his DC career path. This development might suggest that Marvel enthusiasts won’t get to see Kraglin in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
