Over four decades since Sylvester Stallone first introduced us to the action character Rambo, we’re now set to witness a prequel film within this universe, as reported by Deadline. The story will delve into John Rambo’s past during the Vietnam War, an era crucial to understanding the development of this iconic gun-wielding hero. We eagerly anticipate unraveling these untold chapters in his life, and it appears that Noah Centineo is being considered for the lead role. With his rising star status and upcoming role as Ken Masters in Legendary’s live-action Street Fighter movie, he seems a fitting choice for this prequel.
The movie’s details are not fully set, as it hasn’t found a permanent production house yet. According to a previous report by Deadline, it is expected that Lionsgate will take on the project, with filming scheduled to begin in Thailand in 2026. Jalmari Helander has been selected to direct the Rambo prequel, and Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani are responsible for writing the script.
Despite playing Rambo again in 2019’s “Rambo: Last Blood”, it appears Stallone won’t be part of this upcoming film. It’s a bit disappointing to see him step away from iconic franchises like Rambo and Rocky, but Hollywood often takes unexpected turns. We’ll eagerly wait for further updates as they come.
