New Rumors Reveal Magneto’s Role in the Upcoming Avengers Film

Recent comments suggest we’re starting to understand Magneto’s role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. According to industry insider Alex Perez, when Magneto appears, he will have successfully created the mutant haven he’s always dreamed of – and he’ll fiercely defend it if it’s ever in danger.

Perez was also asked whether the X-Men and the Avengers might fight each other in the movie.

He told fans not to expect any direct, intentional fighting to the death between the X-Men and Avengers. He clarified that while their actions might have deadly consequences, there wouldn’t be characters deliberately killing each other.

When discussing the future of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Perez stated that Cyclops and Jean Grey will be leading the team together. He also indicated that popular characters like Angel, Beast, Gambit, Rogue, and Nightcrawler are likely to be included as members.

The upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, boasts an enormous cast including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and many more familiar faces like Robert Downey Jr., who will play Doctor Doom. The movie brings together Earth’s mightiest heroes – the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, a new team of Avengers, and the classic X-Men – to battle the formidable Doctor Doom.

This movie is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, planned for release on December 18, 2026. A follow-up film, Secret Wars, is currently scheduled to come out on December 17, 2027.

So, the story behind Doomsday is pretty interesting. Initially, Destin Daniel Cretton was set to direct The Kang Dynasty, and everyone expected Jonathan Majors to reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror. It’s wild how things change in filmmaking, right?

The project went through several changes. Jeff Loveness initially signed on as a writer, but after Cretton departed in late 2023, Loveness was replaced by Waldron. Jonathan Majors was also removed from his role due to legal troubles. Ultimately, the Russo brothers returned to direct, with Markus and McFeely handling the writing. Downey was cast as the new villain, Doctor Doom, and the film was renamed Doomsday. Filming took place from April to September, using locations in England and Bahrain, and was done at Pinewood Studios in England.

Okay, so this picks up a little over a year after the events of Thunderbolts. Basically, everyone you can think of from the Marvel universe – the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, even the X-Men – are all joining forces to stop Doctor Doom. It’s a massive team-up, and honestly, the scale of it is pretty impressive.
