In this movie, Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi portrays Dek, a young outcast of the Predator species, who is often treated like trash by his own kind. It appears that the Predators discard their weaker and smaller members in a similar way humans might dispose of garbage. Joining him on this journey is Elle Fanning, playing an android named Thia, created by Weyland-Yutani – yes, the same corporation infamous for creating androids from the Alien series. Interestingly, Twentieth Century Studios brings together these two renowned franchises again! However, it’s worth noting that the Alien vs. Predator films produced in the early 2000s are generally considered non-canonical.
Elle Fanning’s character portrays the planet that Drek encounters as the “most perilous planet in the cosmos.” It appears that this could be the home world of their hunting species based on the creatures shown in the trailer, making it reminiscent of the thrilling “Jurassic World.” The film’s main character is a Predator, and the same linguist who created the Na’vi language for James Cameron’s Avatar series developed a coherent written and spoken language for this extraterrestrial species. Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the animated “Predator: Killer of Killer” this year, has taken the helm of this franchise, promising an exciting continuation. We’re eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.
Predator: Badlands hits theaters on November 7.
