The first trailer for season 2 of the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is here, and it features a return for Kong, offering viewers an exciting preview of what’s to come.
This live-action series is connected to the same universe as movies like ‘Kong: Skull Island’ and ‘Godzilla x Kong’, known as the Monsterverse. The first season ran from November 2023 to January 2024, and it was quickly picked up for another season in April 2024.

Apple TV has revealed a first look at season 2, announcing it will premiere on February 27, 2026. The teaser opens with footage resembling a home video of surfers at the beach, but their day is quickly interrupted when officials order an evacuation due to a dangerous area where giant creatures, called titans, are present. As the surfers leave, small, spiky monsters emerge from the sand and attack, leading to a fast-paced and suspenseful sequence.

As a huge monster movie fan, I’m really excited about what’s coming next! The story jumps between two different time periods, continuing to follow the Monarch organization as they research all these incredible titans appearing on Earth. The latest teaser was packed with action – we got a glimpse of Kong from a helicopter at night, Cate Randa battling some seriously strong winds, and both young and older versions of Lee Shaw in some intense situations. Seeing Wyatt Russell’s character terrified and Kurt Russell fighting a sea monster while trying to drive a boat? Sign me up! It looks like they’re really raising the stakes.
This short preview announces Kong’s return, as he hasn’t been featured in a film since 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. He did make a quick appearance in the final episode of season one of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a show mostly about Godzilla and other giant creatures. Notably, Godzilla isn’t in this new preview, hinting that the second season will likely center around Kong’s story.
Viewers will see the giant ape make occasional, yet memorable appearances, creating excitement for his next film, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, coming in 2027.
As a huge Monsterverse fan, I’m getting seriously excited! The latest teaser seems to suggest Kurt Russell might be back – remember his character getting sucked into that weird blue portal? That would be amazing! Plus, we’re definitely getting Wyatt Russell and Anna Sawai again, which is fantastic, and a bunch of other familiar faces from the first season like Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Mari Yamamoto, Elisa Lasowski, and Anders Holm are all returning too. It’s shaping up to be a really great continuation of the story!
