The six-part series centers on Tea, a secret agent portrayed by Clara Dessau, who goes undercover as a jeweller to take down a dangerous criminal organization. Her mission is to befriend Ashley, the girlfriend of the gang’s cold-hearted boss, Miran. However, as Tea becomes more involved in this corrupt and controlling world, she begins to wonder where her allegiances truly lie.

Netflix says The Asset explores the complex boundary between good and evil. The show questions just how far people will go to do what they think is right, especially when it’s hard to tell the difference between right and wrong.

Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm directed the series, and she shared with Netflix that she wanted to examine how people’s values change when they’re facing difficult circumstances. She explained, “I wanted to tell this story because it dives into the complicated nature of who we are and where our loyalties lie when everything is on the line.”

Viewers are really connecting with The Asset, praising its realistic characters and emotionally engaging story. The show has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is generating a lot of positive buzz online. Many viewers found it easy to follow and enjoyed how the story developed, with one saying it “was straight to the point” and another commenting that it “got better with each episode” and left them wanting more in a potential second season.

Viewers particularly praised Maria Cordsen’s performance as Ashley, calling it a standout element of the show. Many also found the series to be well-paced and focused on its characters, with some suggesting a British version could be made down the line.

Within days of its release, The Asset has demonstrated that Denmark continues to excel at creating smart, gripping dramas.
