Never Been Shipped is a romantic cruise you won’t want to miss

Have you ever embarked on a voyage inspired by your favorite television program? If not, prepare for an unparalleled experience with Alicia Thompson’s novel, Never Be Shipped.

One author who consistently leaves you intrigued is Alicia Thompson. It seems I’m not alone in this, as her works always surprise me with their unexpected twists. Her latest book, “Never Been Shipped,” deviates from her previous work in an enjoyable manner. For instance, her last book was a romance between a baseball player and his heckler, but this new one offers something fresh yet captivating.

Before diving into my review, let me mention that if you’ve previously read “With Love, From Cold World“, you may recognize one of the characters here. Although it took me a moment to recall him, it could be enjoyable to revisit that book or refresh your memory before starting this one. It’s not essential, but it could add an extra layer of fun.

It’s great that Berkeley alerted me to this book and provided me with an advance reading copy, because I have a strong fondness for Alicia Thompson’s work, so it was a certainty that I would add it to my collection.

Never Been Shipped is a cruise you won’t want to get off of.

No matter if the captivating cover or intriguing plot drew you in, the novel Never Been Shipped will transport you into a relaxing vacation vibe like no other. The narrative centers around ElectricOh!, a band returning to perform a few shows on a cruise ship. Interestingly enough, this vessel is themed around a popular TV series that showcased their music. As you can imagine, things aren’t going smoothly for the band in this tale.

Micah, who served as the lead vocalist, chose to disband the band, which has left her with a multitude of emotions, particularly towards John. John was not only a close friend, but also a fellow band member and co-founder with whom she began the group. If you recall, John was prominently portrayed in With Love, From Cold World. Initially, their interactions might feel a tad uncomfortable, but it’s evident that there remains a deep friendship between Micah and John.

John and Micah rekindle their relationship, with a depth of feeling that transcends friendship. Their romance is a tantalizing blend of sweetness and passion, reminiscent of the beloved “It’s Always Been You” trope. It also provides a dose of drama as they grapple with lingering feelings from the disbandment of their group and its aftermath. The portrayal of their emotions feels authentic, given the heightened tension, which adds to the overall realism.

In a romance novel, Never Been Shipped, you’ll find all the elements you desire: longing, tension, emotional turmoil, passionate moments, and an ample dose of drama. Moreover, Alicia Thompson skillfully delves into the complex personalities of Micah and John, uncovering the reasons behind their actions and behaviors.

Beyond my current thoughts, I’m eagerly anticipating the possibility of this book being adapted into either a movie or television series. The narrative seemed incredibly cinematic with its elements of drama, suspense, and abundant potential to create a story revolving around music, camaraderie, and romance. Although it seems unconfirmed if a TV show is in the works, I can’t help but fantasize about seeing “Never Been Shipped” unfold on our screens.

Never Been Shipped by Alicia Thompson is out now, where books are sold.
