Nanamica’s iconic Cruiser Jacket has undergone some technical upgrades. Over the weekend, this Japanese fashion label revealed a completely new design of their flagship coat featuring Spiber’s Brewed Protein™, an advanced plant-based material that utilizes fermentation technology to offer a circular approach to protein fiber production.
According to the manufacturer, Brewed Protein™ fibers can be tailored to provide a “silk-like luster and fragility, a luxurious softness similar to cashmere, or the fluffiness of premium wool.” The brand highlights that due to its plant-based composition and complex fermentation method, it minimizes environmental footprint and animal cruelty concerns.
This redesigned Cruiser Jacket features a single-handed snap fastener at the front, along with a detachable hood which can be worn as a collar. The pockets are both functional and stylish, equipped with double-layered construction for hand warmth, and there’s also a secure pocket conveniently placed on the left chest. Lastly, the design includes an adjustable hem to accommodate different body sizes.
Nanamica’s Cruiser Jacket made with Spiber’s Brewed Protein™ is now up for grabs on their online store and their physical store located at 123 Wooster St, New York, NY 10012. The price tag is $1,600 USD. Check out the design in the gallery above.
