Mustard proves that Drake producer Boi-1da liked ‘Not Like Us’ after dissing West Coast rap

As a long-time fan who’s seen my fair share of hip-hop feuds, the back-and-forth between Boi-1da and Mustard over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has been an interesting twist. Being from LA myself, I can’t help but side with Mustard on this one.

In a recent conversation, Mustard and OVO producer Boi-1da discussed the Kendrick Lamar track featuring a Drake diss called “Not Like Us.

The situation escalated when Boi-1da, known for producing many tracks for Drake, expressed criticism towards West Coast hip hop music. He stated on social media, “West Coast rap is trash,” and added, “Only people in Los Angeles want to listen to it.

Originally, Mustard from L.A., who created the track “Not Like Us”, expressed his reaction as, “Say it ain’t so man.” Later, he shared photos of Boi-1da complimenting the Drake diss song on social media. Boi-1da wrote, “‘Not Like Us’: Good stuff. The beat is incredibly tough,” according to Mustard’s account. In response, Mustard said, “You appreciated ‘Not Like Us’ @boi1da.” Then, he added with a hint of humor, “Well, there seems to be enough caution tape for everyone now.

Apart from “Not Like Us,” Mustard contributed the tracks “Hey Now” and “TV Off” to Kendrick’s recently released GNX album. This album debuted at the second and fifth spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Excited by this success, Mustard shared his joy on social media. He also mentioned that he wasn’t aware of when these songs would be released.

As a die-hard fan, let me tell you something that left me utterly astonished, just as it did for everyone else. You see, I had been speculating about its release, guessing it might drop at the start of the year or perhaps around the Super Bowl. But here’s the twist – while I was pumping iron in the gym today, suddenly he shared a sneak peek of a new track, and my heart skipped a beat! I thought to myself, “Oh my goodness, this album is probably going to drop next week.” To my surprise, within mere ten minutes, the entire album was out there for all of us to enjoy – right when we were gathered together for Thanksgiving.

Let’s return to Mustard and Boi-1da’s exchange of words. If Drake feels slighted by Boi-1da favoring “Not Like Us,” it could explain why we might not see him collaborating with Drake on future projects.
