Much is being made of Kendrick Lamar stopping in Drake’s hometown for his tour

As a long-time fan of both Kendrick Lamar and SZA, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement as I see them embarking on their Grand National Tour. Having grown up listening to Kendrick’s poignant lyrics and SZA’s soulful melodies, it feels like a dream come true to witness these two powerhouses sharing the stage.

Following the successful launch of his exceptional “GNX” album, Kendrick Lamar is embarking on a tour alongside SZA, called the Grand National Tour. The initial performance takes place on April 19, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the final show is scheduled for June 18 in Washington D.C.

There’s just one show that’s outside of the U.S. and it’s in Drake’s hometown of Toronto, at Rogers Centre on June 12. A lot of people are talking about that stop since Kendrick has been beefing with the OVO boss for much of 2024.

Firstly, the rap artist known as Top5, who is affiliated with Drake and had previously made threats towards Kendrick Lamar, penned, “I’ll show him respect if he arrives without a police escort.

Fans of hip-hop music are expressing their thoughts as Kendrick Lamar takes on a challenging stage, one user commenting, “It seems people might not fully grasp the magnitude of Kendrick performing at the Rogers Centre for his tour. This is Toronto’s largest venue, and it’s worth noting that Drake has never held a concert there. If Kendrick sells out this venue before the well-known rap titan of Toronto, it would be quite extraordinary.

Simultaneously, some people observed that Kendrick Lamar is scheduled to perform in Toronto three days before Father’s Day. It appears that the Compton rapper intentionally picked this day to strengthen his assertion from earlier this year that Drake neglects his responsibilities as a father to their son Adonis, which he has previously accused him of being.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! Kendrick and SZA performing ‘Not Like Us’ in Toronto the same week as Father’s Day is like opening a magical portal for me. This man has raised the bar to a whole new level of genius.

I recently came across a post from the Toronto Blue Jays, the Major League Baseball squad that calls Rogers Centre home. They were advertising a concert stop by Kendrick, and while it was cool to see, some folks found it amusing given the context.

The Toronto Blue Jays are advertising Kendrick’s tour and someone wrote, ‘Give him even more affection in the city he hails from,’ which is a reference to a line by Drake from his song ‘Push Ups’ where he dissed Kendrick.
