With a staggering 5.57 million combined sales and streams in the UK alone, it’s surpassed Oasis’s “Wonderwall” to become our country’s most successful song that never graced the Number 1 spot on the charts.

According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s assessment, Oasis ranks among the most influential and commercially successful bands in music history, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. The Killers, with their own impressive achievements, will become eligible for induction in 2030. According to reports from March 2024, both LPs and CDs experienced a significant revival in 2023, generating a total revenue of $1.9 billion – an impressive 11% increase compared to 2022.

Mitch Glazer, chairman and CEO of the RIAA, stated that the heightened success of recorded music is a testament to labels’ persistent effort to cater to fans in various platforms.

As a gamer, I can tell you that back in July 2019, The Killers’ hit song experienced its peak week with an impressive 17,700 chart units. This success could be attributed to the fact that we, as a band, haven’t grown tired of playing it regularly. In fact, in an article where they discussed earning two Guinness World Records for this very song, lead vocalist Brandon Flowers mentioned, “We just don’t seem to tire of it…”

Its biggest year for pure sales was 2012, with 125,200 units sold.

A song that’s bigger than the band
