Morrissey becomes a part of one of the weirdest collaborations ever

As a long-time Morrissey fan who has followed his career since the Smiths days, I must say this collaboration with A$AP Rocky and a host of hip-hop legends is truly unexpected but incredibly intriguing! The idea may seem bizarre at first glance, but given Morrissey’s versatility as an artist, I can’t help but be excited to see how he fits into the track.

Have you ever imagined Morrissey as a hip-hop artist? If so, congratulations, you might be unique in that thought. However, it’s true! The renowned singer from The Smiths is set to feature in a new track alongside some famous rap legends. (Rest assured, this isn’t a jest.)

During a chat on Apple Music, the announcement about the news came up as A$AP Rocky talked about his upcoming album, titled “Don’t Be Dumb“. This album is scheduled for release on August 30. His latest single, “Highjack,” featuring Jessica Pratt, was dropped this past Friday.

In this collaboration with Morrissey on the track “Hood Happy”, A$AP Rocky expressed warm admiration for the artist. The song features other musicians as well, but they all hail from the realm of hip-hop, including Busta Rhymes, Flavor Flav, Slick Rick, and Fatman Scoop.

One intriguing aspect that could make this song a must-listen is discovering Morrissey’s contribution to the track. Given his musical style, it’s unlikely he’ll attempt rapping as it might sound awkward. Instead, we might find him participating in the chorus in some way, which seems plausible even if the rest of the song isn’t quite our taste.

To be honest, even I, as a die-hard fan, can vouch for that. A$AP Rocky stated about Morrissey, “He’s the kind of artist who will step up to the plate and deliver when needed.” It seems he’s a lot more collaborative than some might have suggested.

Morrissey shared on his website a video clip from social media featuring A$AP Rocky discussing “Hood Happy,” and he labeled the post, “The Guardian will be shocked by this.” The artist is known for being straightforward and not mincing words or criticizing music journalism. (Note: I’m just an amateur writer and not a professional journalist, so Morrissey probably won’t take issue with me.)

If you’re a fan of Morrissey, here’s some exciting news! He’s scheduled a series of upcoming concerts, starting from Halloween in Houston, Texas, and running through November 23rd in Waukegan, Illinois. Most of these shows are within the eastern U.S., with one exception in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Keep in mind that you might need to travel to catch his live performances.
