Morgan Wallen is a puzzle: people either adore him or find him controversial. Alternatively, it could be that you’re unaware of him as he specializes in the genre of pop country music, which might not align with your listening preferences if you don’t usually opt for country tunes. To clarify, by ‘pop country,’ I mean a style that some consider shallow and lacking depth.
Indeed, Wallen manages to earn a substantial income by composing tunes that resonate well with his audience. These songs are generally devoid of offensive content. However, they do not delve deeply into the global issues we face today. It’s unlikely that those who aren’t fond of country music would be familiar with any of Wallen’s compositions. And it seems he is perfectly fine with this state of affairs.
This individual is known for having casually tossed a chair from a rooftop-level Nashville bar (disregarding the possibility that someone could be walking below on the bustling street), exited the Saturday Night Live stage as farewells were being exchanged, and subsequently shared his desire to return to “the land of God.
Morgan Wallen does the most Morgan Wallen thing by flipping off Charley Crockett
Morgan Wallen knows how to play to his base in the basest of ways. High brown he isn’t.
At a recent show in Toronto, a city not known for its conservatism, it seemed like many in the audience were on board with Halsey’s approach of appearing aloof while genuinely valuing her fans who support her musically, thereby enriching her life. In a moment that spoke volumes, I found myself flipping off a shirt sported by Gavin Adcock – a gesture that, in my book, symbolized the unique dynamic between an artist and their devoted followers.
Incidentally, if you’re not familiar with Adcock, there’s no real loss. He’s a modern country music performer, and while wearing sunglasses, he bears a resemblance to a significantly less gifted Waylon Jennings.
Initially, Adcock joined Wallen on stage wearing a Charley Crockett shirt, which was the apparent cause of Wallen’s middle finger gesture. It seems that Adcock and Crockett have a disagreement over the definition of true country music. Notably, Adcock is white while Crockett is African American.
It’s plausible that Wallen aligns with Adcock due to Crockett’s recent Instagram post praising Beyoncé and criticizing “bro country” in country music, which has allegedly been stagnant for a quarter of a century. Additionally, Crockett seemed to imply that Morgan Wallen, the top country artist, predominantly listens to rap.
In simpler terms, the underlying issues involve race. We won’t delve into that in this discussion, but it’s quite evident. Morgan Wallen has taken a stand, however, as he gives the middle finger to Charley Crockett when asking Gavin Adcock to tour with him.
