Michael Jackson Biopic Drops New Teaser Promising Electrifying Tribute

A short preview of the new Michael Jackson movie has been released, offering fans their first look at Jaafar Jackson as the iconic singer.

Antoine Fuqua directs this film, written by John Logan, which tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life and career, from his beginnings with the Jackson 5 to his success as a solo artist. Jaafar Jackson portrays Michael, marking his first acting role, while Juliano Krue Valdi plays a young version of the star. The movie also features performances by Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, and other talented actors.

Plans for the Michael Jackson biopic began in 2019 when producer Graham King secured the rights to tell his life story. Lionsgate officially announced the film in 2022, and director Antoine Fuqua signed on in early 2023.

I’m so excited for this movie! They started finding the actors in the same month it began filming, and production went on from January to May of this year, with just a little more shooting finishing up in June of next year. I read on Deadline Hollywood that it’s finally coming out in the US on April 24th, thanks to Lionsgate, and Universal Pictures is taking care of getting it seen around the world!

The preview offers glimpses into Michael Jackson’s life, from his beginnings with the Jackson 5 to the start of his individual career. It also features actors portraying important people in his life, like his parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson (played by Colman Domingo and Nia Long), his siblings, and fellow musical icons.

Miles Teller plays Michael Jackson’s lawyer, John Branca, with Kat Graham as Diana Ross and Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy. The preview suggests the film will explore the difficulties Michael faced, including the scandals that marked his life and career.

Producer Graham King explained that the film strives to tell a truthful and nuanced story about Michael Jackson, showing him as a person—both his strengths and flaws—and addressing difficult subjects like the accusations of child sexual abuse without glossing over them.

Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter, has spoken out against the upcoming film, saying she wasn’t involved in its creation. She described a draft of the script as overly softened and also questioned some of the casting decisions, specifically Miles Teller as Branca. She worries that certain choices seem designed to benefit those already connected to her father’s life story.

The first look at the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic has already gotten people talking, with fans sharing their reactions to Jaafar Jackson’s performance and the film’s initial images. Set to release in April, the movie is generating excitement and is expected to be a significant celebration of Michael Jackson’s life and music.
