Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her first appearance on Broadway next week! The popular rapper will be playing the role of Zidler, the owner of the cabaret in the musical Moulin Rouge!, for eight weeks at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre. She’ll begin on March 24th and perform through May 17th.
The character of Harold Zidler has historically been played by men. However, Megan will be taking on the role as a woman, offering a new take on the classic character. She recently shared a first look at her costume on Instagram, revealing her cabaret-inspired look to fans.

Megan, who has won three Grammy Awards, expressed her excitement about joining the show. She said she’s always looking for new creative challenges, and performing on Broadway feels like the perfect opportunity. She recognizes that Broadway requires a lot of hard work and a different approach to performing, but she’s ready for it and eager for her fans to see a different side of her. She also described the role as a great honor.
I’m still reeling from seeing Moulin Rouge! on Broadway. It first opened in 2019, and while it sadly had to pause during the 2020 lockdowns, it thankfully came back in 2021. It’s an absolutely stunning show – it even won 10 Tony Awards, including the big one for Best Musical! But I was so disappointed to hear it’s closing on July 26th. I’m trying to squeeze in one last visit before it’s gone!
Producer Carmen Pavlovic celebrated Megan’s involvement in the show’s final performances as a particularly exciting moment. She explained that this groundbreaking casting was a special farewell gift to audiences and a major announcement for Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Pavlovic hopes Megan will help the show end with a truly spectacular finale, adding that Megan will also perform some of her own famous songs. She believes this will be a must-see event for fans of both Megan and the musical.
