I was so excited to hear Matt Reeves at the Emmys talking about *The Batman Part II*! He shared some really cool updates – he said filming is starting soon and that the script is finally locked and ready to go. It’s great to get some solid news about the sequel!
Filming Timeline
Reeves confirmed cameras will roll in spring 2026.
Reeves told Variety that filming is expected to begin in the spring, likely around the end of April or early May.
Reeves confirmed the screenplay, which he wrote with Mattson Tomlin, is complete and Robert Pattinson has already read it. Pattinson reportedly loved the story, and Reeves thinks the next film will be even more ambitious than the first one.

Script and Characters
Matt Reeves complimented Krista Milioti’s work on *The Penguin* show, but confirmed her character won’t be in *The Batman Part II*.
Reeves explained that the actress wasn’t involved in this installment because they were so deep into the story that adding her would have caused major problems.
He hinted at wanting to revisit her down the line if the story allows.

Future of the Batman Universe
Matt Reeves confirmed that while he’s interested in exploring spin-off series like *The Penguin*, his main focus is currently on making *The Batman Part II*. He’s willing to consider other related projects, but only if they’re up to his quality expectations.
We’re eager to explore more projects, but they need to be a good fit creatively. While I don’t oversee all of DC’s plans, I definitely have some ideas I’m excited about,” he said.
