Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Burn with Passion in New Trailer for Emerald Fennell’s ‘Wuthering Heights’

The first trailer for the new film Wuthering Heights is out, offering a preview of Emerald Fennell’s intense and dramatic adaptation of the beloved novel.

The movie is a dark, sensual, and suspenseful psychological drama written, directed, and produced by Fennell, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

This movie is inspired by Emily Brontë’s classic novel from 1847 and tells the tragic love story of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Jenna Ortega stars as Catherine, and Jacob Elordi plays Heathcliff. The film also features Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell.

Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film Wuthering Heights in the UK on February 11, 2026, and in the US on February 13, shortly before Valentine’s Day.

Warner Bros. and several industry sources say Emerald Fennell initially revealed the project around mid-2024. She then cast Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in September. Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment—which previously worked with Fennell on Promising Young Woman and Saltburn—is also involved in the film.

There was a competitive fight to distribute the film, with Netflix offering approximately $150 million. Ultimately, Warner Bros. secured the rights for $80 million by promising a traditional movie theater release and a significant marketing campaign.

I was really surprised when Emerald Fennell cast Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff without even making him audition – especially since he was thinking about taking a break from acting! It caused some debate online because people pointed out that Heathcliff is described as having darker skin in the book. But Fennell explained that Elordi simply looked exactly how she’d always pictured him, based on the original illustration in her first edition of Wuthering Heights.

Filming for the movie happened earlier this year in various locations across the UK, including Sky Studios Elstree and the scenic Yorkshire Dales. It was shot on 35mm VistaVision film by cinematographer Linus Sandgren.
