The Wrap reports that Superman and Lex Luthor will join forces to fight a well-known DC villain, hinting at a larger and more elaborate story to come in a future movie.

This news follows a clue James Gunn dropped months earlier: a photo of a script cover with images of the brain. That post immediately led to speculation about the villain Brainiac, especially since it came after the events of Peacemaker Season 2 and seemed to fit with the plans for the new DC Universe.

What The Wrap Says About Man of Tomorrow

According to The Wrap, the next Superman movie will feature Brainiac as the primary villain, forcing Superman and Lex Luthor to team up despite their differences. This builds on the ending of the first film, which hinted at Lex Luthor playing a bigger role in the DC Universe. It also aligns with previous statements that the sequel would introduce a more powerful and dangerous enemy than the one featured in the initial movie.

The new movie, Man of Tomorrow, will be released on July 9, 2027. David Corenswet will play Superman, with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Frank Grillo has also confirmed he’s returning as Rick Flag Jr. in the film.
