Li Shuangyong, a man from China, dramatically transformed his lifestyle by faithfully adhering to Saitama’s grueling workout regimen, the protagonist from the Japanese manga series One-Punch Man, for 1,000 consecutive days. The routine, reminiscent of a comic book hero, involved performing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and running 10 kilometers every day. However, Li Shuangyong chose to make this challenging workout a reality in his own life.
36-year-old Shuangyong embarked on a new journey on August 24, 2021. Prior to this, his life had been quite challenging. As reported by Jiupai News, his fish farming venture collapsed, leaving him in debt, and his marriage disintegrated. Reflecting on that period, he expressed, “I needed to find a way out. I couldn’t keep going like that; things couldn’t get any worse.” It was then that he came across the One-Punch Man manga series, which sparked inspiration in him with Saitama’s tale.
In the comic book world, there’s a superhero named Saitama who underwent an extraordinary training regimen to gain his incredible strength. His workout is unique because it’s both brief and grueling – 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run every single day for three years, all without the luxury of air conditioning or heating. This intense routine turned Saitama into an extraordinarily powerful hero, capable of vanquishing most foes with just one punch in the tale.
Shuangyong chose to follow the regimen faithfully, even with limited resources. On a shoestring budget, he wore inexpensive footwear worth approximately 10 yuan, or £1.10, and lived primarily on eggs and instant noodles. He captured each exercise session on video and posted it online, which led to swift popularity in China. His admirers even started live-streaming his runs and joining him virtually from Taiwan. Gradually, sponsors began providing him with running shoes and nutritional supplements to aid his progress.
On the 19th of July, marking a milestone after 1000 days, Shuangyong successfully completed his challenge. By that point, he had racked up over 20,000 kilometers in running and performed hundreds of thousands of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.
On July 19th, following 1000 days, Shuangyong completed the challenge he had set for himself. By then, he had run more than 20,000 kilometers and performed a massive amount of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats-hundreds of thousands in total.
As a die-hard fan, I decided to go all out and transform myself into the iconic Saitama from One Punch Man. It wasn’t long before my dedication caught the eye of the manga creator himself. In awe, he exclaimed, ‘Your passion is remarkable! Kudos to you!’
A Chinese individual just finished a 1000-day regimen inspired by One Punch Man’s training, which included 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run daily. To mark the occasion, he shaved his head. 🔥💇♂️

Currently, Shuangyong is contemplating grander aspirations. His goal is to break the Guinness World Record by completing a marathon every single day for an entire year. He expresses his intention as wanting to ‘extend hope beyond boundaries.’
Many individuals on the internet contend that the challenge is too difficult for most people to sustain, yet there’s no arguing with the inspiration stemming from his dedication. Shuangyong, by surpassing his personal boundaries, not only transformed his physical self but also revolutionized his life, demonstrating that unwavering determination and self-discipline can lead to extraordinary achievements.
