Chef Mafruha Ahmed from Young Space presents her first cookbook titled “Extended Lunch“, which transforms the traditional lunchtime meal into a stimulating and nutritious adventure. Initially distributed as a 2024 newsletter, sharing recipes with friends and creative peers, the book has now evolved to include 60 simple-to-follow recipes categorized under lunch, dinner, and dessert sections.
Drawing from her roots in Bangladesh, culinary education, and years of hands-on expertise, Mafruha inspires amateur chefs to rely on their intuition, customize recipes according to taste preferences, and celebrate the flavors that each season offers. Signature dishes such as grilled leek mimosa and marinated courgettes with butterbean stew reflect her daring, ingredient-focused cooking style.
With vibrant, medium-sized photos by Abena Appiah and detailed drawings by Sophie Glover, the book Extended Lunch also features the E.L Zine. This zine offers a candid, unpolished glance into the less-than-perfect aspect of home cooking. The E.L Zine collects tales and images from initial recipe testers, reminding us that fantastic food is just as much about trying new things as it is about following instructions precisely.
Beginning in May, we’re excited to introduce you to Extended Lunch, a concept that encourages you to savor the culinary journey and craft meals designed to unite people. Pre-orders for the book are now open on Worms’ online store.
