This past week on Peacock has been quite eventful, filled with animated escapades, teen comedies, and blockbuster spectacles that have kept viewers captivated. The diverse lineup unites timeless franchises such as ‘Madagascar‘ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’, as well as nostalgic favorites, and a modern twist on the high school classic with ‘Mean Girls’.
This list presents the most frequently played items, offering brief summaries and essential cast and crew information to help you choose your next watch without any hassle.
With this paraphrase, I aimed to make the language more natural and easier to read while keeping the original meaning intact.
10. ‘Mean Girls’ (2024)
In this humorous musical, we follow the story of Cady Heron as she enrolls at North Shore High School and picks up the ropes from friends Janis and Damian. She subsequently becomes part of the clique known as the Plastics, headed by Regina George. As her affection grows for Aaron Samuels, she struggles to manage it while a scheme to unveil a ruthless social structure unfolds, ultimately leading to chaos in the school cafeteria.
As a passionate movie lover, I’m thrilled to share that “Cady” is portrayed by Angourie Rice in this upcoming film, with Reneé Rapp bringing “Regina” to life. Auliʻi Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey take on the roles of “Janis” and “Damian” respectively. Tina Fey, who wrote the script, graces our screens along with Tim Meadows. Christopher Briney steps into the character of “Aaron,” while Busy Philipps and Jenna Fischer complete the adult ensemble. Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr. are at the helm, directing the adaptation of the stage musical, featuring music by Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin.
9. ‘Clueless’ (1995)
A character named Cher Horowitz hails from the affluent neighborhood of Beverly Hills. She navigates her teenage years alongside her best friend Dionne, employing makeovers, matchmaking, and charitable work as their strategies in high school. However, the dynamics shift when a fresh student named Tai emerges, and Cher’s perspectives about her past stepbrother Josh begin to evolve.
The movie is created and managed by Amy Heckerling, featuring Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, the late Brittany Murphy, and Paul Rudd in leading roles. Donald Faison, Breckin Meyer, and Dan Hedaya play significant supporting characters. This film draws loose inspiration from the novel ‘Emma’, shifting its themes to contemporary Los Angeles.
8. ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ (2011)
Po, along with the talented Furious Five, embark on a mission to thwart Lord Shen, a peacock ruler who is working on a revolutionary weapon that could potentially eliminate kung fu. Jennifer Yuh Nelson is at the helm of the sequel, featuring familiar voices like Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, and James Hong reprising their roles. Joining them is Gary Oldman who takes on the character of Shen. The story has been penned by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger for DreamWorks Animation.
7. ‘Battleship’ (2012)
In the vastness of the Pacific Ocean, a routine naval drill is abruptly halted when an unidentified entity descends into the water, encircling warships in a massive enclosure. As communication falters, a young officer aboard the USS John Paul Jones finds himself in a challenging situation, collaborating with allied crews to unravel the mystery of these invaders and ensure the fleet’s survival.
Peter Berg is the director of a sci-fi action movie. The main cast includes Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgård, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano, and Jesse Plemons. The script for this film was written by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber, and the idea originated from a board game with the same name.
6. ‘Bring It On’ (2000)
Upon assuming leadership of the Rancho Carne Toros cheerleading squad, Torrance finds that their championship performances have been plagiarized from a rival school. She subsequently brings on a new team member named Missy and encourages her team to develop unique routines for the upcoming nationals competition, as they prepare to face off against the Clovers.

5. ‘Night of the Zoopocalypse’ (2024)
As dusk descends upon this metropolis, an eerie phenomenon transforms the local zoo’s inhabitants into creatures reminiscent of the undead. I find myself banding together with a few fellow survivors to navigate the barriers that separate our enclosures, outwit the infected roaming about, and race against time to uncover a solution that can halt the outbreak before dawn breaks.
In simpler, more conversational terms, this animated movie is suitable for the whole family. It showcases a talented ensemble of animal characters voiced by an international cast in English. The production hails from Europe and offers vibrant scenes and laugh-out-loud funny animal antics as they unite to protect their home.
4. ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ (2024)
In the story, Po is tasked with taking on a fresh position as a Spiritual Leader, which involves finding a replacement for the Dragon Warrior title. He teams up with a clever fox named Zhen to pursue a cunning sorcerer known as the Chameleon, who seeks to obtain powerful ancient artifacts.
As a passionate fan, I’m excited to share that I was part of a fantastic project directed by the talented Mike Mitchell, with Stephanie Ma Stine joining as co-director. The screenplay was brilliantly crafted by Darren Lemke, with valuable contributions from Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.
The voice cast is nothing short of stellar, featuring Jack Black, Awkwafina, and Viola Davis. Notably, we also have Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, and Bryan Cranston reprising their roles. This project continues the thrilling journey of ‘Kung Fu Panda’ for DreamWorks Animation. I can’t wait to see it unfold!
3. ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ (2008)
As I (Alex), along with Marty, Gloria, and Melman, strive to depart our island, we instead find ourselves stranded in the heart of the African savanna following an unexpected crash. Reuniting with my kin becomes a profound moment for me, while I confront the formidable challenge posed by rival lion Makunga. Meanwhile, my comrades adapt to their new surroundings and contemplate the essence of “home.
Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath are at the helm of the second film, featuring the voice talents of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The ensemble also includes Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, and Andy Richter, along with new characters for Bernie Mac, Alec Baldwin, Sherri Shepherd, and will.i.am as Moto Moto.
2. ‘R.I.P.D.’ (2013)
After a detective gets killed on duty, he’s enlisted into an extraordinary police unit dealing with supernatural matters. This team ensures that deceased criminals don’t conceal themselves among the living world. Pairing up with a seasoned officer, he roams the streets in disguise, still attempting to uncover who was responsible for his own murder.
In my perspective as a cinema enthusiast, I’d say: I had the pleasure of witnessing Robert Schwentke’s masterful direction of a comic series adaptation penned by Peter M. Lenkov, with a screenplay by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. The stellar cast includes Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, Mary Louise Parker, and Stephanie Szostak. This production strikes a captivating balance between action-packed visual effects and the witty banter typical of buddy cop duos.
