Machine Gun Kelly says his daughter helped him get sober after learning he was high

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I can truly appreciate the transformative power of personal growth and the influence of loved ones in our lives. Machine Gun Kelly‘s journey from the stage to sobriety is nothing short of inspiring.

Occasionally, a parent may find themselves abandoning harmful habits due to an overpowering love for their child. This is something that Machine Gun Kelly could undoubtedly resonate with, as he admitted that his daughter, Casie, played a crucial role in helping him quit drugs and alcohol.

In a conversation on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Kelly shared that it all began when his daughter expressed, “‘Dad, I can sense when you’re under the influence,'” which left him feeling deeply saddened. He described this moment as the greatest disappointment.

As one of Kelly’s devoted fans, I’m well aware of the special bond he shares with his daughter, Casie, who hails from his past relationship with Emma Cannon. Casie frequently accompanies him on his journeys, has graced the stage alongside him, and even offers her father valuable insights about music – a fact Kelly once discussed candidly with Kelly Clarkson.

Currently, Casie is 15, however, the conversation about her father’s drug issues occurred when she was around 11 or 12 years old. Yet, it wasn’t until later that the creator of “Tickets to My Downfall” altered his behavior.

As a gamer, I’ve shared that my childhood wasn’t always rosy; it was filled with unhappiness at home. My dad would frequently push me to be somebody I wasn’t, which wasn’t easy. But I’ve also spoken about breaking free from these unhealthy family patterns.

He further explained, “In essence, that’s him not living up to who he aspired to be.” For me, acknowledging and addressing this was the first step. As a parent and an individual, I strive to be the kind of father my dad wasn’t, thus breaking this generational pattern for my child.”

Back in early August, I found myself on Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast, and during our chat, I opened up about my journey. Specifically, I shared that I decided to quit drinking after my initial round of rehab. As a 34-year-old, I’ve had my share of struggles, and the substances I often relied on were Percocet, Vyvanse, Hydrocodone, marijuana, and alcohol.

Kelly informed Bunnie Xo, the spouse of country artist Jelly Roll, that they no longer consume alcohol. Since last August, they’ve abstained from drinking. This marks their first experience in a rehabilitation facility.
