Hoka is collaborating with a new partner, MAAP, which specializes in cycling, to blend their shared focus on high-performance footwear. This partnership has led to the revamping of Hoka’s Tectonic X2 model, featuring sleek aerodynamic design elements and cycling-inspired details borrowed from MAAP’s unique cycling apparel line.

Misha Glisovic, the Chief Creative Officer at MAAP, noted a growing trend where fashion and endurance sports are blending, indicating a greater interest in spending time outdoors and incorporating physical activity into daily routines. Thomas Cykana, from HOKA’s Global Collaborations department, echoed this sentiment, stating that their teams share a mutual appreciation for the creative blend of art and science that drives running and cycling in today’s market.

The shoe boasts HOKA’s renowned Tecton X 2 sole with a forward-driving carbon plate, and it comes in a distinctive “limeade” color scheme. While the interior features bursts of aqua, the laces and heel sport lime green, and the outsole is dark green, the main body is primarily an off-white, which can be seen on the cushioned middles, textile uppers, and stylish overlays.

In this exciting collaboration, I (as a fan) find myself handing over the reins to MAAP, allowing HOKA’s distinctive elements to shine brightly. Not only are MAAP’s logos intricately woven into the vibrant laces, but they’re also prominently displayed on a purple strip above the toe box and insoles. The reflective stripe, a hallmark of performance cycling apparel, takes center stage on the lateral panel, echoing a key detail that I’ve grown to appreciate in my cycling journey.

The collaboration between HOKA and MAAP, the Tecton X2, will first become available exclusively at MAAP stores on July 11. A worldwide release will follow on July 15, simultaneously on both MAAP.cc and HOKA.com for a price of $230 USD. Additionally, MAAP intends to organize a collection of community events on July 12 in selected cities such as Melbourne, Los Angeles, and Berlin.
