Lynda Carter will forever be linked with the role of Wonder Woman. She starred as Diana Prince in the popular TV series from 1975 to 1979, becoming a role model for many. To mark the show’s 50th anniversary and Women’s History Month, the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum is hosting a special event at the Arts & Industries Building on the National Mall. The event will feature a discussion with Lynda Carter and Patty Jenkins, the director of the hit movies Wonder Woman (2017) and Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).
Following the discussion between Carter and Jenkins, a panel will explore the impact of Wonder Woman – also known as Princess Diana of Themyscira. They’ll discuss how the character has inspired people through comics, movies, and in real life, particularly in leadership and representation. The panel will feature experts from entertainment, business, and public service. The Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum notes the event will consider why Wonder Woman has been a role model for generations, representing the belief that courage, wisdom, and the ability to take control are attainable for everyone.
Join us on March 5th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building (900 Jefferson Drive SW, Washington, DC) for an event celebrating Wonder Woman! It’s a perfect location, considering the show was famously set in Washington, DC – first during World War II and then in the 1970s. Wonder Woman was a pioneer, appearing before other popular action shows like Charlie’s Angels and The Bionic Woman, and deserves recognition for its impact on women in television. The event is free, but you must register in advance. Click here to sign up now!
