Lucy Liu proved why she’s a New York City style icon and dedicated actress while filming her new Peacock series, Superfakes, in Chinatown on February 9th. The 57-year-old Emmy nominee turned heads in a vibrant blue fur jacket and sparkling silver suit, outfits that matched the show’s intense and realistic setting. Superfakes follows a counterfeit dealer in Chinatown who gets caught up in a dangerous criminal world, all while trying to provide a normal life for her family. Liu isn’t just the star – she’s also an executive producer on the project, which is being made by the respected A24 studio.
Alice Ju, the creator and showrunner of the new production, is known for her acclaimed work on the Netflix series Beef. She’s collaborating with executive producers Josh and Benny Safdie, the filmmakers behind the intense movie Uncut Gems.
Together, they aim to create a realistic and energetic portrayal of New York City, with filming continuing through the spring. In addition to her other projects, actress Liu will also appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2, scheduled for release on May 1st.
The sequel reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, promising more of the stylish workplace drama fans loved. The film’s trailer quickly became a record-breaker, earning more views in a single day than almost any other comedy preview in history.

I’m so excited to see everything Liu is achieving right now! February has been a huge month for her, with her action thriller, Old Guy – which she starred in with Christoph Waltz – becoming a real hit on Paramount+ after being in theaters. But it’s not just action – she’s also getting amazing reviews for her deeply moving role in Rosemead. It’s a project she really believed in, and she worked for years to bring a story about the Asian American experience and mental health to life. It’s incredible to think she’s been a star for over three decades and continues to be so versatile! And when she’s not filming, she’s a talented visual artist, working away in her New York studio. She truly does it all!
