Summary

  • Acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino is reportedly in discussions to direct Artificial
  • Slated to be a comedic drama for Amazon MGM Studios set in the world of artificial intelligence
  • The film is said to be in early talks with Andrew Garfield, Monica Barbaro and Yura Borisov to star

Renowned filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, who has directed movies like “Challengers” and “Call Me By Your Name”, is said to be in discussions about helming “Artificial”, a humorous dramatic project centered around artificial intelligence, potentially for Amazon MGM Studios.

As reported by Deadline, the upcoming film is said to be centered on the turbulent phase at OpenAI in 2023, focusing particularly on the highly publicized event where CEO Sam Altman was temporarily dismissed and then immediately reinstated. Although specifics about the plot are being kept confidential, it’s been described as a mix of comedy and drama, hinting at a blend of humor and an exploration of the intense world of AI innovation.

It appears that Andrew Garfield, Monica Barbaro, and Yura Borisov might be discussing roles for an upcoming movie. If they join, it would represent a further partnership between Guadagnino and Amazon MGM, who have previously worked together on projects such as Challengers and the soon-to-be-released After the Hunt, in which Garfield also stars.

The script for the movie titled “Artificial” has been penned by Simon Rich. Alongside David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford from Heyday Films, Rich will also produce this project. Additionally, discussions are ongoing with Jennifer Fox about producing as well. This venture follows Guadagnino’s planned DC Studios film “Sgt. Rock“, which experienced delays, enabling him to swiftly move on to “Artificial” instead. It is said that this movie intends to start filming this year.
