As a dedicated fan, I’ve eagerly anticipated the release of The Legend of Zelda movie for quite some time now. With the film finally scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2027 (following a recent delay), the question that has everyone talking is who will bring our beloved princess and her hero to life on the big screen?
The long-awaited answer to that question has been given, as Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s representative director and originator of the Zelda series, shared on Twitter today the official news about the cast.
For Zelda, we have 21-year-old British actor Bo Bragason, who gained recognition during her teenage years in shows like Three Girls and Moving On, and more recently starred alongside Jenna Coleman and Tom Glynn-Carney in the BBC crime drama series The Jetty. Additionally, she has one credit related to video games, where she lent her voice to a young Lunafreya in the animated film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.
Miyamoto here! Exciting news about the live-action movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda! Bo Bragason will be portraying Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link. I can hardly wait to see them both in action on the big screen! (1/2)

In the upcoming live-action film, the quiet guardian (who might not remain so discreet), named Link, will be portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, a 16-year-old British actor. Although he gained fame as the voice of Pinocchio in the 2022 Disney remake, this talented young performer has an impressive list of roles in movies and television series to his credit.
Regrettably, it doesn’t provide any clues about the plot, leaving room for continued speculation about which Zelda game this movie’s storyline corresponds to, or if it could be an entirely fresh tale within Hyrule. No matter what, fans are likely to enjoy many years of lively discussions trying to place it in the legendary Zelda timeline.
