Leonardo DiCaprio Admits to Jennifer Lawrence He’s Never Watched His Biggest Hit

Leonardo DiCaprio recently told Jennifer Lawrence something surprising: he’s never actually seen his blockbuster film, Titanic. He shared this during a conversation for ‘Actors on Actors,’ a series created by Variety where leading actors discuss their careers.

Leonardo DiCaprio, who has won an Academy Award, is headlining the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s newest movie, One Battle After Another. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is taking the lead role in Lynne Ramsay’s Die My Love, portraying a new mother dealing with postpartum depression.

The two actors, both well-known and selective about the projects they choose, openly discussed their experiences with acting and working on film sets.

During a conversation, Lawrence playfully asked DiCaprio if he’d ever seen Titanic, the hugely popular 1997 film that launched him to stardom. DiCaprio surprisingly confessed, “No, I actually haven’t.”

Lawrence responded, “Oh, you should. I bet you could watch it now, it’s so good.”

You know, it’s funny, but I rarely watch my own movies, and apparently, I’m not alone! I was hearing DiCaprio say he pretty much avoids them, and he even asked if I do too. Jennifer Lawrence totally agreed. She said she’d probably watch something huge like ‘Titanic’ if she’d been in it, but generally doesn’t. She had a funny story about getting drunk and putting on ‘American Hustle’ just to see if she was any good – she doesn’t even remember what she thought after watching it! It’s wild to think actors don’t sit down and critique their own work like we do.

Titanic is widely considered Leonardo DiCaprio’s most successful film. It was a massive global success, earning over $2 billion and winning 11 Oscars. The movie made DiCaprio an international star and continues to be one of the highest-grossing films ever made.

The discussion revealed that both actors are more interested in the craft of acting itself than in looking back at their previous roles. DiCaprio openly shared that even very famous actors don’t often rewatch their own movies.
