Laurence Fishburne is throwing his name into the X-Men reboot conversation.
At a recent New York Comic Con event celebrating *The Matrix*, 64-year-old actor Patrick Stewart expressed his interest in playing Professor Charles Xavier in a Marvel movie.
Laurence Fishburne acknowledged the current discussions about the X-Men and then asked the audience what they thought about him playing the role of Professor X.

No to Star Wars
Fishburne then asked the audience for ideas on what he should discuss next. Someone suggested Star Wars, but he said he wasn’t interested in that topic.
“I’m all set,” he said. “I’m really into *Star Wars* right now – I’m actually watching all of it, and I’m currently enjoying *Rebels*. I’m perfectly happy relaxing on the couch with it. I don’t need a lightsaber, honestly – no, I’m good!”

Marvel’s X-Men Reboot Taking Shape
I’m so excited about the new X-Men that Kevin Feige is planning! From what I’ve heard, it’s going to happen after *Avengers: Secret Wars*, and it sounds like they’re going with a fresh, younger cast. There’s a lot of buzz that they’re really rethinking things, especially with casting. Apparently, Feige wants to bring some significant changes to the characters, and a big part of that is looking at Black actors for key roles like Magneto and Professor X. It’s a smart move to really set this version apart from the X-Men movies we’ve seen before.
There’s been talk that Colman Domingo might play Professor X and Denzel Washington could be Magneto in an upcoming project.

Fishburne’s Marvel Experience
Laurence Fishburne is no stranger to the Marvel universe. He’s previously appeared as Bill Foster in *Ant-Man and the Wasp*, returned for the animated series *What If…?*, and lent his voice to the character of the Beyonder in *Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur*.
He’s also recognizable for his roles in comic book films like *Man of Steel* and *Batman v Superman*, where he played Perry White, and, of course, for being in *The Matrix* series.
Casting Still Unconfirmed
Currently, Marvel hasn’t announced who will star in the upcoming X-Men reboot. The movie is still being developed, with Jake Schreier, the director of *Thunderbolts*, leading the project and Michael Lesslie writing the screenplay.
